Portrait 12: nosey

Mixed media on canvas
Acrylics and acrylic inks
30x30cm (4cm deep)

Originally I had this painting in a separate post, where the idea was to create a series of 4 cropped portraits, showing only parts of the face. As it is with paintings, you spend so much time with each one, that you get a relationship with each and every one of them. So, they now get their very own page, all of them. Also, makes my blog look more active, and me more productive!

I showed my blog to some old friends on a recent holiday, and I realized they only look at the main picture in each post, and don’t scroll to see the rest. Most importantly, nobody reads the text! So, seeing this, the text is mainly just for myself, for documentation value. Don’t even know why I wrote that, most likely only i will read it, haha!

What didi I learn:

  • Painting big details of the face is super exciting! You really get into the different color values, and each time you think you have managed to mix a color that looks right, is a little victory.
  • It’s hard to get super realistic with acrylics. This painting made me long for oil.
