Portrait 3 and 4, the twins

Renee and I jump straight into our next portraits, days before i head over to Australia. I decide to go for smaller scale, but do 2, that will be related in terms of style and color. I do the fun, collage stage for both canvases at the same time, which makes them belong together.

Work in progress…

Making a series that belong together

The blue stage

Back in Norway

Back in my own studio, i spend some time making it more tidy, using what i have learnt from spending 3 weeks in Renee’s studio. It’s amazing how much clarity these small measures add.

  • Keep the work sorted but easy to access
  • Always clean the brushes with soap after use and add clean water, ready to start next session
  • Create a collage paper collection
  • The bird: using soft gel medium (generously) on a laser printout for a hour, peeling off the paper with a wet cloth, which leaves the print on the canvas.

I order the Golden acrylics colors that i need, but I can’t wait to get back in to it, so i start the second portrait using phtaloblue. At this stage i can only wait for the raw sienna to arrive in the post! Patience…

It’s strange not to have my paint buddy right next to me. When i get stuck on a decision, i can’t just ask her for input, nor be inspired by her portrait progress. But there is skype 🙂
