Skyline reflected

Playing with some small pieces of wood chip, it just turned into this skyline. I think it must have to do with my green little home village Hommelvik being on my mind. It’s being developed into a small city. This is how I imagine the view from the sea will be in the very near future. I feel it strongly, because this is what the idea of progress seems to look like in many places in Norway, and somehow it doesn’t resonate with how I wish it could be. Why should progress always mean more, bigger, taller, busier? How can we have laws against building near the waterfront, but still be allowed to just scrap that law, when a property developer offers enough money. I’d like to think progress could also mean protect what we love about a place, for future generations to enjoy too, no matter how much money is on offer.
